Last Monday, our receptionist had the flu but came to work anyway. When Bear found out she was sick, Bear immediately sent her home but apparently, not soon enough. On Friday, I felt the first chills and slight headache. By Saturday afternoon, the fever had arrived as well as chest congestion and stuffed sinuses.
As with all cables, it was important to pay attention to the direction the cables crossed each other. Once I got the pattern memorized, the square knit up quickly. It blocked beautifully. Only twenty squares more to go.........
Since it was obvious I wasn't going to be out and about over the weekend, I settled into my easy chair, wrapped up in a blanket, and picked up my knitting. I decided to knit a square from The Great American Aran Afghan.
This square was designed by Barbara McIntire and features Celtic cables as the centerpiece as well as the borders. As with all cables, it was important to pay attention to the direction the cables crossed each other. Once I got the pattern memorized, the square knit up quickly. It blocked beautifully. Only twenty squares more to go.........

Beautiful! I think that's my favorite one yet.
Ooh, love that Saxon Braid cable!
I sure hope you're feeling better soon.
Hope you don't have the same cold I have - It's been holding on for almost 2 weeks now! I am really looking forward to seeing your afghan when it is all done. it's really going to be impressive.
Don't you just love Victoria - We've stayed at the Empress a couple of times for church annual meetings (the Unitarians know where to party, eh?) It looks like you had a wonderful time! T.
This is so inspiring, Kathleen! Is The Great American Aran Afgan a book? Your beautiful knitting makes me want to get back to work on my Sweater Workshop sampler and get moving on other projects! (My list in Raverly is growing from all the neat knitted projects I see!)
And I do hope you get to feeling better soon. What you have is running rampant here - so much so they were discussing whether or not to close the schools!
Oh, I'm so sorry about the flu! Ugh.
That is a beautiful square--maybe my favorite so far. I do love a gorgeous cable.
you are quite inspiring, that is a beautiful square. i hope that you are feeling better soon!
I am so very sorry to hear you have the plague! I've been trying to avoid it at my work, so far so good, but I imagine it is just a matter of time.
This square is STUNNING! I loves these celtic cables. This is so beautiful, I'm impressed you could work this while sick. Great job!
20 more to go!? Yikes!
Your afghan is going to be so lovely when you finish it. Each square is a work of knitterly art. By the way, the boring boy socks are complete, and I have a picture of my son modeling them on my blog now. Well, as much as a 10 year old boy will model.
